Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Series For Malaysia; Price Starts From RM3899

The Samsung Unpacked brought a lot of exciting new products, but the star remains with the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series. The series now consists of the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra (so no more Note 20+ in their titles) and now comes with a powerful camera setup alongside its S pen stylus.

It’s confirmed that the series is making its way here in Malaysia, so here’s everything you need to know!

Price And Availability

The Galaxy Note 20 series Malaysian pricing is as follows:

  • Galaxy Note 20 (LTE version) – RM3,899
  • Galaxy Note 20 (5G version) – RM4,299
  • Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G – RM5,199

The Note 20 Ultra comes in three colours: Mystic Black, Mystic Bronze and Mystic White. The Note 20 also comes in three colours; Mystic Bronze, Mystic Green and Mystic Grey. The standout colour is definitely the Mystic Bronze. You can pre-order the device on the Samsung official website.

There’s a pre-order promo where the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will come with a Galaxy Buds Live worth RM699 for free. For the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 5G will come with a Galaxy Buds+ worth RM599.

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Features

Let’s start off with the Note 20 Ultra as it comes packed with all the bells and whistles for the Note series. It comes packed with an ultra-sized 6.9in Quad HD+ Dynamic Amoled Infinity-O Display (3,088 x 1,440 resolution) edge display like the recent Galaxy S20 Ultra, while its sibling the Note 20 has a 6.7in flat FHD+ Super Amoled Plus Infinity-O (2,400 x 1,080 resolution) display.

It comes packed with Exynos 990 processor that’s paired with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage which is expandable with a microSD card. As preparation for the future, it comes packed with 5G and WiFi 6.

For the camera, the Note 20 Ultra has 10MP selfie camera and a rear quad camera setup consisting of 108-megapixel main shooter, 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera and 12-megapixel telephoto camera with up to 5x optical zoom, and can combine these for Samsung’s Space Zoom feature that enables up to 50x Super Resolution Zoom. Just like the S20, 8K video recording is also supported and you can convert a frame into a high resolution still image. It also comes equipped with Laser Hybrid Auto Focus system which speeds up auto focus in addition to phase detection, which is a great addition to help with focus issues we experienced with the S20.

Of course, it’s not the Note 20 series without the S Pen and Samsung is particularly proud of this one. The new S Pen now comes with a lower 9ms latency thanks to an AI-based point prediction combined with its highly responsive display. The air gesture controls for the Bluetooth-connected S Pen has been enhanced where you can now use it to go back, home, view recent apps or take a screenshot.

Lastly, in terms of battery, the Note 20 Ultra comes with a 4,500mAh battery that’s actually smaller than the S20 Ultra at 5,000mAh. It supports 25W fast charging via USB-C which can provide 50% charge in 30 minutes, and wireless charging as well as reverse wireless charging with its Wireless Power Share feature.

Galaxy Note 20 Features

The Galaxy Note 20 is interesting as its design and display is actually different compared to the Ultra. The 6.7″ Super AMOLED display is actually flat without any curved edges in comparison, and its display has a lower Full HD+ resolution and a meager 60Hz refresh rate.

Packed in it also has the Exynos 990 processor paired with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM with 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Unfortunately, the storage isn’t expandable any further as it lacks a MicroSD slot.

For the camera, it gets a 10MP front camera and a triple rear camera with the 12-megapixel main shooter and a 12-megapixel ultra wide camera, then there’s the telephoto camera which has a higher pixel count at 64-megapixels and takes 3x hybrid optic zoom and up to 30x Space Zoom pictures.

For the battery, it comes with a 4,300mAh battery instead, but all the other charging features remains the same, as with the S Pen.
