realme came into the Malaysian market as one of the more recent players in the smartphone industry. They target the mid-range consumer segment with their affordable and somehow surprisingly well-equipped smartphones. For their efforts in keeping the price point in check and still churning out great devices, the company has grown to become the 4th best-selling smartphone brand in Malaysia. This is based on the official Quarter 1 2020 global smartphone analysis by Canalys – surpassing Xiaomi, which came in at 5th place.
realme smartphones are quite well-received based on the analysis at 11% of the market share in Q1 2020. But the report indicates their year-over-year growth at a whopping 406%, which means the brand is indeed the fastest growing smartphone vendor in Malaysia.
In these recent months, realme has certainly impressed us with their devices, mostly due to their affordability that doesn’t sacrifice much on hardware and performance. Based on that, their growth is to be expected as the general smartphone user in Malaysia would gravitate towards great specs and a price that doesn’t break the bank.
Would we buy a realme smartphone? Well, we already have very good impressions with some of their devices such as the realme X2 Pro and the realme 6 Pro, which we found pretty impressive in terms of specs.
